12th June: World Day Against Child Labour

Today we celebrate the day against child labour. Click here to get a glimpse of what the situation is like all over the world, it´s a video made by the ILO (=International Labour Office). You can also watch this video, which doesn´t give as many facts but the images speak for themselves

If you want to know how people all over the world are working to stop child labour, you can read about IPEC (= International Programme on the Elimination of Child Labour) and their SCREAM programme; SCREAM stands for Supporting Children’s Rights through Arts, Education and the Media. SCREAM is an education and social mobilization initiative to help educators worldwide, in formal and non-formal education settings, to cultivate young people’s understanding of the causes and consequences of child labour. Here you can read more about this programme

After reading about all this and watching some videos and programmes on this topic, we should certainly be grateful for our lives. Even small talk and everyday wishes take on a totally different meaning... Have a nice weekend!
