There must be lots of studies explaining why citizens will make jokes about their rulers even in the cruelest and hardest situations. Funnily enough, you can very often find the same joke in different countries; in these cases, the only difference is the name of the ruler. For example, the second joke on the left about the Egyptian president, Hosni Mubarak, was very popular in Spain during the last years of Franco´s life. I guess you have all heard about the demonstrations in Egypt in the last days, probably inspired by the revolt in Tunisia ; that´s what reminded me of these jokes about their current president.
