Spain is Different

Some years ago, "Spain is Different" was a popular motto in our country. Different compared to... the rest of the world or, at least,  the rest of Europe, I guess.

The following piece of news reminded me of that motto:

According to The Telegraph ,  the poster of the film "Larry Crowne," which shows Julia Roberts and Tom Hanks riding without protective headgear (i.e., a helmet), violates Spain´s traffic rules established by the "DGT" (= Department of Motor Vehicles, the department in charge of traffic in Spain). One of these rules bans any publicity, in print, audio or video that may incite excessive speed, reckless driving, situations of danger or any other circumstance involving conduct contrary to the principles of the law.

Tripictures, the makers of the film, thought initially thought it was a joke but  they seem to have been fined 25,000 pounds.

Now, what do you think? Do you agree with the fine? Why (not)?

  3. I don't agree with the fine because I think that the fact that the actors have appeared without a helmet only would promote the "reckless conduct" if they had done so in the development of the film, but it's only in the poster. In addition, it's a film set in the 1970s and the law was established in 1985.
