Dress Code for Your Graduation Speech

Dear 2nd BAC students,

I know you are working hard on the content of your Graduation Speeches and that is certainly important but you should´t underestimate the importance of attire when giving a speech. This is my advice:

BOYS- No jeans. You may wear a sweater or a shirt. If you wear a shirt, make sure it is a button down shirt and tuck it in; wear it with a belt (don't let your white undershirt show, if you wear one). Obviously, clothes must be clean and pressed. No hats, no caps. No sneakers. No sagging

GIRLS- Skirts or dresses are fine but not too short. No jeans - you may wear trousers, though. Avoid anything too tight. No uggs. Shoulders must be covered. Click here  to see the differences between business formal and  business casual - I know the information there will look too formal for a presentation at school but you´ll soon learn what is NOT appropriate to wear when standing in front of a group of people.

BOTH-  Hair must be off the face (tied back or up)

Barbara Busey, the speaker in the video is an expert on "Presentation Dynamics" so, if you are interested in reading a little bit more about her advice, click here.
