A Bilingual Fairy Tale

How good are you at French?
I know many of my students are taking it as a second language at school; some of them are taking part in the exchange with the Lycée Jean Dautet in La Rochelle and some others will go on the school trip to Paris next spring, so I guess this video will be pretty easy for them to understand. As for the others who know no French at all, just read the subtitles and enjoy the story this girl makes up: it´s a lovely video of a little French girl telling an amazing story full of hippos, lions, and Winnie the Pooh.
If you read any word you don´t understand, pause the video and look it up; that way you´ll enjoy the story she makes up to the full.

Pay special attention to the strategies this little girl uses to:
- find out words for names of objects she doesn´t remember
- keep the listener´s (her mother´s?) attention

  1. Rosa, como tu Inglés es magnífico,me puedes solucionar esta duda:quite good es menos que good o más? en castellano sería equivalente??

  2. Hi, anonymous writer!
    Thanks for your comments!
As for your quesion, the way I see it, "quite," in your example, is an adverb which implies degree in a positive way. For instance, if you say my blog is good, your opinion is clear; if you say it is quite good, it means that it is better than you expected ("bastante bueno"), maybe even surprisingly so.
Has this been of any help?
