Things to consider:
- What group, company or organization is responsible for the ad?
- What is the ad for? How do you know? Is it easy to tell?
- What audience is the ad targeting? What does the ad say about the people who buy the product or service?
- Who appears in the ad? (celebrities, plain folk…). Analyse their behavior or attitude.
- Does the ad appeal to emotion (pity, fear, vanity, happiness, nostalgia...) or to logic?
- What advertising techniques can you recognize in the ad: individuality, humor, `bandwagon´technique...? How are they used? What do they emphasize?
- What kind of language is used?
- Does the slogan stick?
